Thrice-crowned NBA Most Valuable Player Jokic suffered a "gut-wrenching" injury to his knee when the Nuggets fell by a score of 147-123 at the Heat.

The star player was hurt towards the end of the second quarter in an unintentional coming together with teammate Jones.

The other player landed on the foot of the MVP, and he instantly collapsed to the ground grabbing his knee.

The 30-year-old, that is leading the league season in boards and dimes, had a score of 21 points and eight assists in the matchup prior to incurring the injury.

Jokic will have an scan on the following day to evaluate the extent of the injury.

"Right away, he realized something was wrong," stated Denver head coach Adelman.

"This happens in professional sports. Whoever who gets hurt, that's tough to see, especially somebody as talented as him. More information will come tomorrow."

"We'll move on as a team. Obviously, right now, I am more worried about him as a person and the frustration of experiencing something like that."
