President Trump Calls Relatives of Injured Guard Members to the White House
President Trump stated on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the executive mansion.
He noted that he spoke to her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.
Details on the Devastating Shooting
US army specialist Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.
Gatherings across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.
Presidential Invitation
The commander-in-chief stated he’s proposed a White House visit for the loved ones of both soldiers of the state National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump told the press. “And in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Response
Attendees gathered over the weekend at a local school in the state to honor Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to aid policing efforts in Washington DC.
Paying Tribute to the Soldier
“She was the individual that teachers hoped for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s former high school, informed the media. “She was caring, compassionate and always ready to support those in need.”
Funeral details for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Legal Actions and Government Changes
Authorities have indicted a 29-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.
The event prompted the administration to pause asylum applications and halt issuing entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of the Airman
The airman, a native of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, according to the news agency.
He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general Bondi informed a news show that she planned to speak to the family.
Memory of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with honor, as stated by the military.
“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had fortitude,” the governor addressed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her life ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
